In precision mechanical transmission systems,the assembly quality of ball screws and ball nuts directly affects the positioning accuracy and service life of the equipment.Manufacturers usually pre-install ballnuts according to customer needs.However,in many cases,considering transportation safety,cost-effectiveness,customer flexibility and quality control requirements,ball screws and nuts are packaged separately.Although the installation steps on the client side are increased,through detailed installation guides and standardized processes,ball screw manufacturers can ensure that terminal performance is not affected while maximizing supply chain efficiency.This practice is especially suitable for non-standard customized products,high-value precision transmission components and large-volume industrial order scenarios.This article takes mandrel auxiliary installation as the core and briefly analyzes the operating procedures and precautions.

 

(1)Preparation before installation

Tools and environment: Make sure the operating table is clean and dust-free,prepare anti-static gloves,and high-precision mandrel (slightly smaller in diameter than the ballscrew,usually made of nylon or soft metal).


Component inspection: Confirm that the ballscrew thread is not bumped or deformed,and that there are no impurities inside the ballnut.If the protective oil film is dry, it needs to be cleaned with a special solvent and then re-applied with grease.

 

(2)Assisted installation process of mandrel

Step 1: Cut the packing tape on the outside of the ballnut,and be careful not to scratch the surface of the ballnut with the tool.

Step 3: Hold the ballnut so that its thread is completely aligned with the starting end of the ballscrew. Slightly rotate the ball nut to feel whether the initial meshing force is uniform. Slowly rotate the nut in the direction of the thread, keeping the mandrel and the ball screw coaxial throughout the entire process. If the resistance increases suddenly, you need to return to check whether the ball is off the track.

(3) Ball nut direction adjustment method

If you need to change the nut installation direction,follow the following process:

Reverse rotation: Turn the nut back from the ballscrew to the mandrel,and strictly maintain coaxiality during operation.


Change direction: After flipping the nut,repeat steps 2 ~4 and sturn the ball screw in the target direction again.


Secondary verification: After adjustment,retest the full stroke movement to ensure that the change in direction does not affect the ball circulation performance.

 


(4)Precautions

Do not force the nut into the ball screw: if the resistance is too large,the track may be indented due to ball misalignment.Use an optical projector to check for thread damage after disassembly.

 

Anti-pollution control: The working area needs to be isolated from metal dust.It is recommended to operate on a clean workbench or in an environment equipped with air shower equipment.

 


Through the auxiliary installation of the mandrel and strict centering control,users can efficiently complete the self-assembly of the ball nut.This method is particularly suitable for scenes such as high-precision CNC machine tools and semiconductor equipment,which can not only reduce transportation costs but also ensure the flexibility of on-site assembly.
